As a massage therapist, I have learned about the common misconceptions of massage. Some people would call us a masseuse…I think that’s an understatement.
Massage is a spiritual and scientific approach to treating a client, specially who is in chronic pain. Why do I say that? It’s because massage involves healing coming from God and observing how a client moves their body. It requires studying someone’s daily activities, with probing questions over the course of time. It is important to know in order to treat one’s chronic muscle pain. How to analyze the source of the problem is the key.
In modern times, where stress is more prevalent in our society. One must understand that it is important to take care of our body. It’s always easy to pop an over the counter pill. But wouldn’t it be better if there is an alternative way of treating muscle pain without the side effects of pain relievers? I think most of us would probably agree that there has been numerous cases of drug overdose most likely related to pain relievers. So why wouldn’t we opt for massage? Some would simply say, it’s a luxury.
Studies have shown that massage has been benefiting a lot of patients in hospitals to different degrees. Wouldn’t that be something to take it seriously? I think the answer would be a YES.
When you decide to get a massage. Please consult first with your doctor to see if you have any health conditions that would be a contraindication for massage. Also, your health insurance provider might cover for massage and it wouldn’t hurt to ask if massage is a part of your health coverage.
